R&M Learning Centre is looking for highly motivated individuals who love teaching and working with children (K- 8, 9-12). The candidate should have good organizational and interpersonal skills along with being a team player, multitasker and able to work evenings and weekends.

Job description

Prepare Curriculum
Teach students with a sense of humor and capable increase an interesting learning environment.
Provide tutoring assistance;
Prepare subject material for presentation according to the curriculum
Prepare, administer, and correct tests;
Participate in staff meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops;
Evaluate the progress of students and discuss results with students, parents, and school officials;
Develop course content;
Assign and correct homework.

Special skills:

Familiar with the Ontario Curriculum.
Having a sense of humor can increase an interesting learning environment.
Fast learner.
Strong communication skills.
Teaching experience or tutoring experience asset.
Mastering in teaching other subjects is an asset.
Ontario Certificate Teacher is an asset
Adapt to a fast-paced environment.
Excels at working independently and as part of a team. Has had experience dealing with complex interpersonal situations with colleagues, students, families, etc.

Languages – Excellent English

Education

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Teacher’s Training/Certificate/Degree in Ed or currently enrolled in an Education program is an asset.

Part-time hours : 3-15 hours per week

Teaching: 3 years (preferred)
Tutoring: 3 years (preferred)

Dance teacher – part time

IMPORTANT NOTE – Apply ONLY IF you can commute to this location. This is not an online job.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· A three (3) year Bachelor’s level Degree in Fine or General Arts or Education with a specialization in Dance, or equivalent experience

· Thorough knowledge and understanding of dance and movement

· At least two (2) years teaching experience with groups of children and youth

· Good communication skills

· Ability to work successfully with groups of children from different backgrounds and ages

· Specific knowledge of many dance styles (i.e. ballet, tap, hip-hop, musical theatre and jazz) and experience teaching these dance styles to students

· Good working knowledge of spoken and written English

ASSETS:

· 2nd language, preferably Mandarin or Cantonese

· Experience working/volunteering in a multi-cultural setting

RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Provides group dance instruction to young children, school-aged children and youth

· Creates a program of study for each particular group taking into account factors such as age, ability, pace of learning, personality-type

· Introduces and teaches a variety of dance activities that are fun and educational

· Gives each group of students a positive learning experience in a structured environment

· Maintains discipline

· Communicates clearly and effectively with students.

· Is punctual and ensures that each class lasts for the allotted time

· Is diplomatic and polite at all times with students and parents (information of a personal and confidential nature disclosed by students, parents or the Managing Director must not be discussed with others)

· Maintains a tidy and organized work area

· Develops and maintains cooperation and openness, and work collaboratively with others to achieve University Settlement objectives

· Recognizes department and/or community needs/trends and develops appropriate methods to respond

· Adjusts to constantly evolving nature of the environment and priorities

· Evaluates the effectiveness of the program and suggests improvements

· Other duties as assigned by the Managing Director
